Effective date: July 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how MotoHop (“MotoHop”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you visit motohop.co (the “Site”). The Site is operated by Hop Holdings Ltd, an Ohio company doing business as MotoHop, which is the data controller responsible for your information. We have built the Site to collect as little personal data as possible.

The short version

  • We do not use advertising, tracking pixels, cross-site tracking, or profiling. For basic visitor statistics we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that we host ourselves (see Analytics).
  • We do not set tracking or marketing cookies. Browsing the Site anonymously sets no cookies at all, which is why you will not see a cookie-consent banner.
  • We only receive personal information that you choose to send us, such as a message through our contact form or an email address for our newsletter.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we never have.
  • Fonts are served from our own server; we do not load them from Google or other third parties.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Contact form. If you message us, we collect your name, email address, chosen subject, and the content of your message so we can respond.
  • Newsletter. If you sign up, we collect your email address to send you MotoHop updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information for each request, such as IP address, browser type, and the time of the request. These logs are used to operate and secure the Site and are retained for a limited period by our host.
  • Analytics. We collect aggregate, privacy-friendly usage statistics (for example, which pages are viewed and for how long) using self-hosted, cookieless analytics. This does not use cookies, does not store your IP address, and places nothing on your device. See Analytics below.

We do not knowingly collect any special categories of data, and we do not build advertising or behavioral profiles.

How we use information

  • To respond to your inquiries (contact form).
  • To send the newsletter you requested (newsletter signup).
  • To operate, maintain, and secure the Site (server logs).
  • To understand which content is popular and improve the Site (aggregate, cookieless analytics).

For visitors in the EEA/UK, our lawful bases are your consent (newsletter), our legitimate interests in responding to you, keeping the Site secure, and understanding site usage through privacy-preserving analytics (contact form, logs, and analytics), and where applicable compliance with legal obligations.

Analytics

To understand which content is popular and how the Site is performing, we use Burst Statistics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that we host ourselves on our own server. Our analytics are built to respect your privacy:

  • They set no cookies and store nothing on your device.
  • They do not store your IP address. To estimate the number of unique visits, your IP address and browser type are used only momentarily to generate an anonymous, rotating identifier (a one-way hash); we keep only that hash, never the IP address itself.
  • We collect only aggregate information, such as pages viewed, time on page, the referring website, and general device type.
  • All analytics data stays on our own server. It is never sent to or shared with Google or any other third party, and it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Because this analytics uses no cookies and stores no identifying information on your device, it does not require a consent banner.

Cookies and similar technologies

The Site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and our visitor analytics are cookieless. For anonymous visitors, no cookies are set at all. If you log in to the Site as an administrator, WordPress sets standard, strictly-necessary session cookies that are required for the login to function; these are exempt from consent requirements. Because we use no non-essential cookies, no consent banner is required.

Third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Our analytics are self-hosted, so usage statistics are not shared with any analytics company. We rely on a small number of service providers to run the Site:

  • Hosting. Our web host stores the Site and its server logs on our behalf.
  • Podcast hosting. Our podcast, MotoHop On Air, is hosted by Buzzsprout. When you press play or follow an episode link, your request is served by Buzzsprout.
  • Outbound links. The Site links to third-party services such as the original news sources, NHTSA (the public source of our recall data), Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and our shop. Those services have their own privacy practices, which apply once you leave our Site. We do not embed their trackers on our pages.

International visitors

MotoHop is based in the United States and primarily serves visitors in the US and Canada, but the Site is available worldwide. If you access it from outside the United States, please be aware that information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

Data retention

We keep contact-form messages and newsletter sign-ups only as long as needed for the purpose described above or as required by law, and we delete them when they are no longer needed. Server logs are retained for a limited period by our host. Aggregate analytics statistics contain no cookies or IP addresses and are retained only in summarized form.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • EEA/UK (GDPR): access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection to processing, as well as the right to withdraw consent and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know, access, and delete personal information, and to correct it. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of.
  • Canada (PIPEDA / Quebec Law 25): access to and correction of your personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including HTTPS across the Site and login protections, to safeguard information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the limited data we hold.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.

Contact us
